We have an art gallery on our second floor, just outside our Music Rehearsal room. Often, during the year, church members and friends will install art shows for a number of weeks in the gallery. If you are interested in participating in a gallery show, please email David Weiss at art@firstuuwilm.org

Art and music are a big part of First Unitarian Church’s history and we also have works of art displayed in locations throughout the building.

What kind of world do you want to live in?”

To see some responses by area children and youth (including many from First Unitarian), stop by to see our special December display – “Youth Peace Art Exhibit” – along the 2nd floor hallway outside the Brunner Chapel and Music Room. This exhibit is sponsored by Wilmington Pacem in Terris, as part of their 50th anniversary celebration, and is on display at First U for the month of December. To find out more about this traveling art show, and how you can help Pacem in Terris work toward a culture of peace – info@depaceminterris.org.

Sign-ups are open for February through June; December is dedicated to the traveling Children’s Peace exhibit; we will have no exhibit in January. We welcome artists of all ages and media to engage with us in this creative way of exploring our monthly Soul Matters themes. Submit works as many months as inspire you. Works might be something you’ve already completed or might be something new, inspired by the theme. If writing is more your creative outlet and you would like to submit a short piece or poetry suitable for framing based on the monthly theme, those are also welcome. To help us plan, please sign-up! We have a few frames available (11×14, matted to 8×10). If you have questions, send them to art@firstuuwilm.org or speak with David Weiss or Nancy Pinson on Sundays.
