The family of Bob Doss would like to express our deep appreciation for the loving dedication of three red maple trees in honor of his service to First Unitarian Church.
First, and especially kudos, to Barry Marrs who had the idea, earned your support, chose the trees and their arrangement, and organized the watering group – then composed a plaque to commemorate the occasion. Barry was a newcomer as Bob retired, but felt the “residual love” for that service 1963-1994.
Next, thanks to those who spoke at the dedication ceremony on October 19: to Josh for choosing to preach about Bob’s ministry and to Scott Ward from Bob’s tenure for choosing music he knew Bob loved; to David Sheppard speaking to the appropriateness of a nature gift and to Ken Doss, our son, speaking for our family. Lastly, a special kudos to Carl Bordon, our neighbor for transporting some of Bob’s favorite large rocks to First U. Carl borrowed a trailer and enlisted the help of two friends from his job at Winterthur to load unload and arrange the stones for us.
Also thanks to the congregation for making this honor possible and to the Building and Grounds Committee for their support. The Doss family is honored to have our husband, father, grandfather remembered after so many years by his beloved church.
