The plate offering on Sunday, February 8th, 2015 will fund a Grant for Growth from First U to assist in meeting the immediate costs for engineering studies, design work and permits.  UUSD's capital campaign has raised over $435,000 in pledges. Last year a group of UUSD members, using remarkable foresight and generosity, formed a separate business entity called the Pioneers 2015 LLC and purchased the property for the sanctuary. In June 2014, the congregation voted overwhelmingly to accept the Pioneers‘ generous offer to sell the property to UUSD.

On Sunday November 9th, 2014 they “broke ground” for the sanctuary.  Construction has begun with an expectation of completion by June 2015.  UUSD is the second of three new congregations sponsored by First Unitarian Society of Wilmington to reach a membership sufficient to afford their own sanctuary.
