Coalition to Dismantle the New Jim Crow May 2015

Many committees are active and another Study Group is underway at the YWCA to read and discuss Michelle Alexander’s book, The New Jim Crow, Mass Incarceration in an Age of Colorblindness.

The Forum Committee is seeking additional sponsors and partners for the conference, “Hope, Opportunity and Racism: Breaking the Poverty to Prison Connection,” planned for November 14 at the Chase Center in Wilmington. Mark your calendars!

The Expungement Committee has sample letters and talking points for proposed legislation on special topics:  solitary confinement, marijuana decriminalization, and juvenile record expungement.

Our next Coalition meeting will be May 4 at 6 p.m. at Mother African Union Church, 812 N. Franklin Street, Wilmington. Please consider joining us. You may also contact Rev. Maiorano or Joan Priest at 610-869-9335 to learn more. Please consider joining us.
