Doing spring cleaning or closet clean-out? ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) has a special partnership that can help you and young people aging out of foster care.
- Obtain a big box
- Look in the kitchen and take out anything you haven't used in the last year. Pots and pans, cooking utensils, flatware, dishes, placemats, cloth napkins. Put any items in good condition into the box.
- Look into the linen closet and take out anything you haven't used in the last year… sheets, towels, bath mats, blankets, comforters, bedspreads. Put any items in good condition into the box.
- If items in good condition fit into a box, take them to the Catholic Charities Thrift Shop at 1320 E. 23rd St., Wilmington, DE to donate using the code “First UU”.
- Look around the house. Are there any lamps, small tables or chairs, loveseats, single or double beds or mattresses you no longer need? For any furniture items, call Catholic Charities at (302) 764-2717 to schedule a pick up.
Check out the donation information sheet and if you still have questions, contact J Harry Feldman. Remember, all items need to be things a young person would feel good about having in their home… no missing parts, nothing that needs cleaning or repairing.
