The ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) Graduation Backpack and Pizza Party project is about halfway there. We still need help to purchase backpacks, items to fill them with and funds to pay for the pizza party. Please stop by the social justice table during coffee hour after the Sunday service and tell any volunteer there how you'd like to help or contact Barbara Perry.
These grads and others aging out of foster care will also be setting up their first apartment. They need things like single beds, lamps, table and chairs, dressers, kitchen equipment, dishes, flatware, microwaves, coffee makers, toasters… pretty much everything. If you have things you're not using (even gently used bed and bath linens) that you could donate, it sure would help out. Remember, nothing missing parts or not working properly and nothing that needs to be cleaned or repaired. Please refer to the donation form for more information or contact J Harry Feldman.
These projects won't be a success without your support. So please dig deep into your pocket, wallet or purse for the graduation project. And look into those closets and cabinets, basements and attics to see what you can donate that will help make a new apartment feel like a real home.
