… but you are if you're willing to help transport or load/unload furniture and household items for young people aging out of foster care. ILYA's partner (the Catholic Charities Thrift Store) isn't always able to pick up a furniture donation by the donor's deadline. They also can't always deliver items within the seven day limit a young person has to get their items after “shopping” at the thrift store with their Independent Living counselor.
First UU member, Bob Wynn is a terrific volunteer who uses his pickup truck to fill in the gaps when the thrift store staff can't fit it into their schedule. However, we need additional “movers” and vehicles to call on when he's away or we have many items to transport.
Do you have a vehicle that could transport furniture? No vehicle? How about lending a hand with loading or unloading? (There must always be two people present when we deliver anything to an apartment.)
Please email our furniture coordinator J. Harry Feldman at jharryf@aol.comwith information about your vehicle and/or willingness to help with loading/unloading and your phone number. He'll follow up to confirm so when a call for help comes in, we'll have the resources ready.
