March for a Culture of Peace in Wilmington

Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015 – 3:30 p.m.
Cool Spring Park
First Unitarian members are among the principal organizers of the Movement for a Culture of Peace (MCP), which engaged nearly two dozen of us in the highly successful March for a Culture of Peace in September 2014. That March drew more than 400 people to bear witness for peace in our city. Unfortunately, the murders and gun violence remain at near-record levels a year later, so we must act again as a community.

The MCP, which grew out of the first March and sponsored important community discussions through 2014-2015, has announced a second March for a Culture of Peace in Wilmington on Sept. 20. We're hoping for an even bigger turnout from First Unitarian and the wider community. Our church is the site of an important pre-march meeting for March organizers on August 22, and will continue to provide support for the Movement in the months ahead.

You can find out more about the Sept. 20 March at the MCP website  where you can register (and contribute) as an individual supporter or as a member of First U.

Another way to keep up with the Movement is to subscribe to the First Unitarian Social Justice Connector a blog about all of our church's social and environmental justice activities. Merely “follow” the blog (in the right-hand column) to receive notifications of each new post about a different social action activity or opportunity at our church.
