GUEST AT YOUR TABLE – FINAL WEEK FOR 2015

In support of the UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST SERVICE COMMITTEE (UUSC)

This is the final week of the 2015 Guest At Your Table (GAYT) Program, the program which invites us to support UUSC in its world-wide work of social justice.  The following categories help us to understand UUSC's scope and illustrate how it implements our UU values and principles:

  • Economic Justice – Examples:  UUSC promotes fair wages, income equality, and small businesses.  It is there with its Fair Trade Coffee Project.
  • Environmental Justice – Examples:  UUSC works to guarantee the right to water for all people around the world and addresses climate change.
  • Civil Rights and Racial Justice – Examples:  UUSC supports the Black Lives Matter movement and the rights of marginalized people around the world.
  • The Need for Justice in Humanitarian Crisis – Examples:  refugees trying to deal with the tragedies of war, famine, earthquakes, hurricanes, and disease epidemics, such as Ebola.

Personal stories of hope highlight the accomplishments of UUSC and its local partners in each of the above areas.  Generous giving to UUSC will continue to put our UU principles and values of human rights and social justice to work around the world.  Whether you give online at www.uusc.org/donate or by filling the GAYT box with cash or a check (REMEMBER, NOW IS THE  TIME TO RETURN YOUR BOX), or by using a traditional envelope, it is important to be generous and give what you can as frequently as you can.  For more information, contact Doyle Dobbins at d.dobbins@verizon.net.
