Environmental Action Needed – Clean Power Plan Implementation in Delaware – Public Comments Period

Submitted by Elizabeth Siftar and Chad Tolman

On Aug. 3 President Obama and the EPA announced the final rule for the Clean Power Plan (CPP) – the most significant action the U.S. government has taken to reduce climate changing carbon emissions from power plants.  The plan allows each state to implement the CPP.  We have learned that Delaware's plan of implementation to reduce emissions and pollution is much too weak to protect Delaware longterm from the effects of climate change. Significant changes need to be made in the implementation plan.
As citizens and people of faith, we can make a difference.

Following the Nov. 11 Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) hearing there will be a public comments period through December 2015.  All First UU members will be asked to participate in this important action for environmental justice –  Organizing for letter-writing, emails, etc. is underway.   Please plan to participate in this action .  Details to follow.
