What others say about ILYA

The ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) Holiday Giving project (for young people who have aged out of foster care) had another very successful year thanks to the caring and generosity of many First U people. But we aren't the only ones who translate their caring into action.

The Independent Living Coordinators from People's Place 2, Sue Dougherty and Pam Richards, have been critical to the success. They facilitate getting the wish lists from their clients and then pick up all the gifts and deliver each one in our name. And they are so thoughtful to our ILYA team. They brought a poinsettia and box of chocolates for Barbara Perry and Carolyn Gibson along with a lovely card which said…

“The kindest hearts expect no reward and deserve it all the more
You give so much of yourself in the kindness you show and the lives you touch.
That's why you deserve a heartfelt “thank you” and a wish that all the goodness you share comes back to you.”

They wrote-
“Thank you for your hard work and many thanks to all the ILYA volunteers and church members for their generosity. Thank you for all your emailing in getting the Wish lists to us and coordinating the College Care Package folk with the Wish lists and of course the lovely holiday cards for each young adult and family.”

Merry Christmas, everyone! Thank you for supporting the ILYA program.
