On Sunday, February 14th, a little extra love is coming to First U. Two young women supported by the Independent Living for Young Adults (ILYA – a First U social justice project) will be speaking during the service about their experiences aging out of foster care. As a preview, one sent the following note to her “college care package” contact person.

“I just want to take the time to say thank you to you and your husband for helping me out. It may seem small to you but it really means a lot to me and I appreciate it more than I could express. Also, school is going well so far and I'm really happy. I'm finally starting to get really comfortable in my apartment. Thank you again and I hope you guys are doing really well.”

Not all of 'our' students are so expressive and articulate, but these words convey what most feel when they receive our gifts and encouragement. Not only will you be able to hear these young women speak, you'll also have a chance to meet and talk with them at coffee hour after the service. Let's give them a First U radically hospitable welcome!
