This Sunday, the Second Sunday Special Collection will benefit Independent Living for Young Adults (ILYA). This First U Social Justice program that supports young people aging out of foster care at age 18 can only be successful through your support. Funds that are received become grants for apartment and utility security deposits that prevent homelessness and secure heat/cooking; college application/book fees; delivery of donated furniture; and other emergency needs.
Your support makes a huge difference for these young people who, through no fault of their own, find themselves entering the adult world at a very young and vulnerable age with little other support. It can be the difference between a successful, productive adult or a life of marginal living, poverty or even incarceration.
Please dig deep and give as generously as you can. As one young woman said, “I would like … you [to] know the difference you are making in my life. As a child in foster care, I am not financially supported by my parents but by sweet & kind people like you. I am beyond proud to say that after college I will be working full time in Philadelphia… I wouldn't be able to accomplish this without the help you have provided me. I am forever grateful.”
