How do you think we're doing? Are you engaged here at First UU Wilmington in volunteer work that you enjoy? If you are the leader or a member of a team or committee, have you reached out lately to add new members? If you're interested in getting involved in new or different ways, volunteer opportunities are listed here. Another way to get involved is to complete our Gifts and Talents Survey, which you can find here. Or, you can reach out to me as well. As Volunteer Coordinator, I can help you find rewarding service and/or help your committee or team reach out to invite more people to join your effort.
“Never do by yourself what six people can do together,” says Erik Walker Wikstrom, in his booklet, Serving with Grace.
Volunteering at church is about more than getting things done. Wikstrom suggests that the larger and deeper purpose of church work is to learn about others and ourselves. “It is the relationships that are developed, not the items crossed off the to do list… it is the journey, not the destination, that matters most”, he says. May your service journey be joyful, filled with learning and growth.
