Spring Has Sprung and so has ILYA

There is another new project underway for the ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) team in addition to the NAK (New Apartment Kits) project we told you about last week. This time it's a tutoring project for young people aging out of foster care who need a little extra help with their studies. They may be a high school or beginning college student struggling with a class or someone needing help studying for their high school equivalency GED. They may need help preparing to take the military entrance exam or with filling out job applications.
Jean Toll and Lynn Ingersoll are working hard to flesh out the details to make a pilot tutoring program a reality and will be looking for volunteer tutors. Let them know if you have an interest in helping a young person this way.
And don't forget to sign up to help a young person start up their new apartment. The website will show you what's still needed to fill those NAK (New Apartment Kits). Then, come meet some of the young ILYA clients at the potluck dinner on April 15th at 6Pm in the Parish Hall. Bring a dish and your donation and have a lot of fun with old friends and the new ones you'll make there.
