NAK Reinforces Governor Markell's Shout-out to ILYA

This past Sunday, Delaware Governor Markel said the First U social justice program ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults)is the most visible way First U is recognized as reaching out to the community.  He recognized some of the individuals who lead the way in starting ILYA which for 11 years has been supporting young people aging out of foster care.
The newest ILYA project (New Apartment Kits – NAK) is getting the same enthusiastic response First U has given all the others. But we can't call it a success just yet. There are still items needed to prepare the first 9 baskets of starter household items that will go to young people moving into their first apartment.
The project leaders (Sue Hodges and Marge Stitz) will do the shopping for anyone who wants to contribute funds. Or people can shop for and place items needed in the collection box that will be in the parish hall every Sunday through May.  You don't know what's needed? Go to the SignUpGenius website and pick the items you want to donate.
As Governor Markell said, these young people have been through what many of us can't even imagine. Let's show them they are moving into a caring adult world. Please help!
