What a fantastic response the NAK (New Apartment Kits) team got following their appeal for support for young people moving into their first new apartment after aging out of foster care. Donations of kit items and cash have put this project close to the mark of completing the first kits. We can still use help though. There were many duplicates of some items but significant gaps of others. So the project team needs cash donations to fill in those gaps. If we could have 15 people donate $10 each (or 30 people donate $5) we'd have all the kits ready to go. Can you help out to give these young people a start?
Please see Sue Hodges, Marge Stitz or Lois Morris on Sunday with your contribution or mail it into the church. Checks should be made out to First Unitarian Church with “ILYA – NAK” on the memo line. Of course cash on Sunday is always welcome too and receipts for donations are available.
Finally, our sincerest thanks to all the donors who have helped us make this project a reality. You've really made a difference in a young person's life… they know someone out there cares that they start out well when living on their own for the first time.
