Welcome to the Newest Members of the ILYA Family

Welcome to the twin girls born to Dion Inge and Markia Carter on June 3.  Brooklyn Nicole (in orange) weighed in at a healthy 5 lbs., 13 oz. and Morgan Taylor (in yellow) was an equally healthy 5 lbs., 8 oz. Dion was in foster care as a teen and worked within the foster care system in Delaware after he obtained his bachelor’s degree in social work and while he obtained his master’s degree. Some of you may remember that he spoke at the Faithful Dialogue session we had for ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) in 2014 and provided insights and suggestions that led to some of the expansion we’ve had in the ILYA program this year. Dion moved to Florida with his wife Markia when they learned they were having twins to be closer to Markia’s family. Judge Barbara Crowell brought their situation to the attention of ILYA and Eloise Peres led the effort to collect funds to purchase car seats for the babies in the name of First U. Interestingly, someone else bought the car seats first so the funds collected will be used for other baby equipment/needs.
ILYA thanks all those who gave so generously to provide well deserved support to this young family.
