Halloween just past and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. But, if you're an ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) team member or supporter, it's Holiday Giving time. Yes, Christmas decorations are appearing in stores and a Christmas tree will be in the parish hall every Sunday in November.Carolyn Gibson and her helpers will be standing near the tree to help you select items from a holiday wish list for a young person who has aged out of foster care. These young people are on their own without family support and won't have any gifts unless we provide them. Check out the collage of pictures at the table to see the reactions the young people have to receiving the love and support our gifts bring them.Your help can be in the form of specific gifts requested or a monetary donation that will help purchase items they're wishing for. In years past we've provided everything from gift cards to a ukulele for a music student. Sometimes it's basic needs that are requested like clothing or household items. Please stop by the table with the Christmas tree during coffee hour and help make this Holiday Giving season another successful one. It's a great way to put into action gratefulness for all the blessings we receive in our own lives. Please help!
