In January we inaugurate a new President. We here at First U will mark that event by affirming our deepest values. On Inauguration Eve we will hold an all-ages Reaffirmation of the Principles of Unitarian Universalism. We will gather at 6:30 p.m. for a simple soup supper. Then we will all 'take the oath' by re-covenanting to affirm and promote our 7 Principles. After taking the oath, there will be 7 tables, one for each principle, with information and activities for all ages.
On Friday, January 20th, the sanctuary will open at 1 p.m. for silent reflection. At 1:30 p.m. we are thrilled to offer a program by Lee Reinert, a trained facilitator in Joanna Macy's Active Hope and the Work that Reconnects. Dr. Reinert is a long time environmental activist, a Quaker, and an expert in deep ecology.
More information on both these programs will be available in early January. Right now, here's how you can be part of these important programs:
- Volunteer to help set up the soup supper.
- Work with Rev. Roberta on the Fifth Principle table.
If you are a free thinker and want to figure out how to support “the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process in our congregations and in society at large” this challenge is for you!
Contact Rev. Roberta at roberta@firstuuwilm.org if you would like to lend a hand.
