2017 at First Unitarian Church
Friday, October 6, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m., Saturday, October 7, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Sunday, October 8, 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.
The Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) is a multi-cultural volunteer organization that is dedicated to reducing interpersonal violence in our society. AVP workshops present conflict management skills that can enable individuals to build positive approaches to their lives. AVP was designed by a group of Quakers and started in a prison as a way of building violence prevention skills. It is now available all over the world both in prisons and in the community.
In this weekend-long Basic Workshop you will participate in a variety of exercises designed to build affirmation, respect for all, community building, cooperation, and trust. The Basic is also the first step in becoming trained to lead AVP workshops.
The workshop is free of charge, although we happily accept donations if you are moved to contribute money towards our expenses.
If you would like to attend, please pre-register so that we have enough materials for everyone and so that we can make sure there is someone to let you into the church when the doors are locked! You can pre-register by email. Questions??? Call Sue Wilson (509) 690-0598 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
