For many years, we raised additional funds with our booster card program. We purchased gift cards to grocery stores, gas stations and other merchants at a discount, and then sold them to the congregation at face value. Over the years we averaged about $5,000 per year in profit, but over time we realized that interest in the program was waning. Administrative burden was high with volunteers and staff spending time reconciling and accounting for sales, placing orders, scheduling sellers and advertising. Sometimes there were issues with the vendors or the cards. Sales continued to slow, and we sold our final inventory on December 10. Thank you to all the volunteers who supported the program over the years. Thank you, too, to all the church members and friends who purchased the cards and provided funds to support our operating budget.
