The Children and Youth Religious Exploration classes have been busy!
In January …
* We hosted First U’s Martin Luther King Day of Service activities, focusing on activities at the Elbert Palmer Elementary School (see more details here)
* The Seekers (2nd, 3rd, 4th grades) learned about child slavery issues around the world, and circulated a petition that is going to Nestle asking them to stop using child labor to process cocoa beans in their chocolates
* The Explorers (5th, 6th, 7th grades) raised $81 from Bean Soup sales that will be donated to Andy’s Friends Cat Rescue
* The Coming of Agers (8th and 9th grades) are exploring the concept of God
In February …
* Catherine Williamson begins her sabbatical, and Amy Gunderson will be overseeing things over the next two months. Welcome Amy!
* The Explorers (5th, 6th, 7th grades) will be doing an Immigration & DACA letter writing campaign
* The Youth Group (9th thru 12th grades) will be heading to their annual Poconos retreat
* We’ll be collecting T-shirts for Elbert Palmer Elementary School
