It has been in the news for years that child sexual abuse can and does happen within churches. It is hard to imagine that it could happen within our own church.  Yet, it is possible.  It takes a community effort to prevent, recognize, and react reasonably to child sexual abuse. First Unitarian Church of Wilmington is hosting a 2-1/2 hour training by Prevent Child Abuse Delaware that is working in cooperation with the Darkness to Light national nonprofit organization that seeks to empower adults to prevent child sexual abuse. The program raises awareness and educates adults on how to prevent, recognize, and react reasonably to child sexual abuse. We urge all members and friends to attend the training on Sunday, March 18 in Brunner Chapel immediately after the service. A light lunch will be served. RSVP here by March 15.
