Meet Your Search Committee

First Unitarian’s ministerial search committee is already hard at work. Our goal is to bring just the right person to minister with us into a bright future with our congregation.
We will begin by connecting with you, our members and friends, through an electronic survey* in July, followed by a series of open meetings in August and September. Please take advantage of these opportunities to describe your vision of the future of First Unitarian Church and the qualities you would like to see in our new called minister.
Following the completion of this inquiry process, the committee will develop a detailed description of the congregation-including a packet of information about our community and the nature of the ministry we are seeking-to be made available electronically to ministers seeking new settlement.
We’ll describe the rest of the process and give you a timeline in our next monthly e-blast. Look for information from the search committee on the second Wednesday of every month through next May, when we hope to present our candidate to the congregation. You may also want to check our page on the church website for the latest information.
Your search committee members are Cindy Cohen, Edris Harrell, Jeff Lott, Barry Marrs, Paul Pinson (chair), Linda Sanders, and Ed Scott. Click here for brief biographical sketches of each of us (pdf). Please feel free to contact any of us if you have questions about the process-and remember that until we reveal our choice, we will always refuse to discuss any individual candidates with you.
*Note that every electronic survey and search committee communication will also be available on paper for those who prefer.
