A Great Time was had by All

The Independent Living for Young Adults Graduation Backpack and Pizza Party project was a fantastic success again this year thanks to the generous support of the First UU congregation. It turned out that we had 17 graduates who came to the West End Neighborhood House for the party. Amy Barch had to be quick on her feet when the room she was planning for had a leak and she had to stage everything in one of the classrooms full of tables. While it limited the mingling that was possible, things still went off without a hitch.

The “ice breaker” scavenger hunt was a real success with players having to find someone who…  That got youth and adults interacting and feeling comfortable. Pizza from Grottos was a hit as were the varied backpacks full of great goodies to take either to a dorm room or apartment.

The whole ILYA team thanks First U for the generous support you always give our efforts. We couldn’t do it without you. But the volunteers really pull it off. Please congratulate Amy and her team… Lori Cowan, Sue Wilson, Stephanie Cloud, Betty Wier, Barbara Crowell, Cathy Butler and Lois Morris.
