Join the Summer Choir, Part II! Sunday, August 26: Come to church early, 9:40 a.m. and join the Summer Choir! We will sing arrangements of hymns that Scott and Rev. Roberta will use during their “Readings and Hymns” service about the end of summer. Fun arrangements, harmonies and rhythms. OPEN TO ANYONE OVER AGE 10!! (OR NINE…OR…)
What will our Music Program look like in the future? Bring a “brown bag” lunch to church Sunday, August 26, (the fridges will be clear) and join Scott in the Music Room at noon, with a facilitator and folk from all aspects of our church to have an informal discussion of what you would like to see in our music program. This is the first goal for Scott while he is on sabbatical; come share your thoughts. Beverages and dessert will be provided. You can also attend a cottage meeting across the hall in the Brunner Chapel (the music folks will share the treats!) led by your Search Team.
An All Music Bernstein Sunday! As tradition has been for the last several years, Labor Day Sunday, September 2, will be an all Music Sunday with our Chamber Choir. This year, led by retired professor Anne Z. Turner, it will be a Sunday of the music and writings of Leonard Bernstein. Anne recently taught a course about Bernstein, and will share some of her insights. The Chamber Choir, joined by soloists, will sing some of his music, including excerpts from West Side Story. So come enjoy the music and the insights into the troubled genius of Leonard Bernstein. Anne is our Musician in Residence while Scott is on Sabbatical.
