Following the Ingathering service on Sunday, September 9, 2018 we will parade outdoors for an old fashioned picnic with food and fun for all. This is a great chance to strengthen our community by meeting new friends and catching up with old friends. And it is an opportunity to introduce our church to potential new members, so why not invite friends and family?
The menu includes fresh grilled hot dogs (meat, turkey and vegan) with ‘the fixings’, fresh fruits and vegetables, baked beans, chips, and salads. All this food, plus cold beverages, are free to all!
For dessert we are having a Cookie Potluck! Please bring a plate of cookies or brownies to share. Make a bunch because our leftovers will provide dessert for September’s hot lunch prepared for Emmanual Dining Room. In addition, snow cones will be available for purchase from Cajun-Sno.
The picnic will be on the front lawn with canopies, tables and chairs. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs! If it rains the picnic will be moved inside.
There will be a bounce house with a slide for kids and (new this year!) mini golf for all ages.
We need help with set up and clean up. To volunteer to help set up (prior to the Ingathering Service) or clean up after the picnic, contact Julia Diebold at 302-475-9203 or juliadiebold@verizon.net. Feel free to contact Julia with your questions or suggestions.
Before the fun begins, we will celebrate our annual multi-generational Water Communion at worship. Be sure to bring a small vial of water that represents your summer activities; we will mingle our water in the common bowl. Brother Ebo and his drummers will provide the music for the service.
