
A Day of Peace is a grassroots anti-violence gathering with the purpose of empowering our youth with hope and opportunity. All are invited: city and suburban; black, brown and white; Anglo, African, and Hispanic, native-born and immigrant, advantaged and disadvantaged; Christian, Muslim, Jew and unaffiliated; young and old; people of all political views to show we are one community opposed to violence, murder, poverty, racism, and exclusion. In addition to the Fifth Annual March for Culture of Peace, there will be food, live performances, and opportunities to connect with resources, jobs, and social change movements.
When: September 22; March for Culture of Peace begins at 11:30 a.m.; Day of Peace event follows from 12:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Where: At the basketball courts “under the bridge” at 3rd & Jackson, Wilmington
What: One mile march through Wilmington neighborhoods affected by poverty and violence followed by live performances, dance, activities, games, employment resources, wellness, vendors, National Guard, sports recruiters & more!
