Holiday Giving Kicks Off November 4!

ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) is starting our Holiday Giving project and we hope you’ll join us to make another great holiday for young people who have aged out of foster care. For those who aren’t familiar, wish lists are created by these young adults, and will be posted in the Parish Hall every Sunday in November. We invite everyone to stop by at coffee hour and choose a list or an item to purchase as a gift for the holidays. (Monetary donations are also gratefully accepted – a volunteer will do the shopping for you).
The project team, led by Carolyn Gibson, can assist with list/item selection and will gratefully accept your donations throughout November. New this year, donations can be accepted using the GivePlus+ App on your smart phone or tablet. During the first week of December, this dynamic team meets to do sorting and wrapping (a quite lively event in years past) to prepare your gifts for delivery to the youth.
Often, your gifts are the only holiday celebration these young people get. Since going out on their own at 18, support is minimal and celebrations almost non-existent. Helping us bring the true meaning of the holidays (no matter what tradition that is) to these young people who have so little will make your holiday more wonderful, too. As always, the ILYA team offers our sincere thanks for your support.
