What a great kick-off we had for the ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) Holiday Giving Project! Many wish lists submitted by the young people who have aged out of foster care were taken by generous volunteers. Shopping for the items these deserving youth wish for is so satisfying and gives them holiday cheer they wouldn’t otherwise have (not to mention lightening the load on their limited budgets). We still have many wishes to be fulfilled so please either stop by the ILYA table during coffee hour after the Sunday service or contact Carolyn Gibson at cgibson@upenn.edu who will assist you.
If you’re not a shopper, we have another way you can help spread cheer. Make a monetary donation and someone on the team will do the shopping for you. That will spread cheer on both sides! You can donate during coffee hour, send a check to the church with “ILYA” on the memo line or now you can even make a donation on your cell phone or tablet with GivePlus+. Just download the GivePlus+ app and indicate “ILYA” when selecting the donation category.
These youth are working very hard to make a successful transition from foster care into productive and satisfying independent adulthood. Please help us make this a wonderful holiday for a youth for whom this could be the only holiday cheer they receive. Thank you for your generous support!
