With the help of many volunteers who have already taken wish lists or donated to the Holiday Giving Project, ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) is getting closer to the finish line. But we still need some help to make it a cheerful holiday for our young people who have aged out of foster care. There are still lists that need shoppers or, if you’re not a shopper, we can use some more donations and will do the shopping for you. Please email or see Carolyn Gibson or Martha Gessler at the table with the Christmas tree during coffee hour. You can also send a check to the church with “ILYA” on the memo line or use the new app GivePlus+ on your mobile device.
We only have until the last week in November for volunteers to get their gifts in so they can be wrapped and delivered to our young clients in time for the holidays. It’s a big project and Carolyn and Martha need time to organize all the behind-the-scenes activities that make it successful. Please help as you can to give a deserving young person a happy holiday. And check out the pictures of recipients from years past hanging in the upstairs hallway between Room 25 and the Brunner Chapel. You’ll see what cheer you give.
