Come Meet the ILYA Youth You Support

On Sunday, February 10th, some of the youth supported by ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) will be our guests participating in the service. One young woman will be sharing her experiences and Sophia Cywinski from the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families will also speak to us about what the state offers young people aging out of foster care. They will also join us during coffee hour so there will be opportunities to chat directly and learn more if you so desire.
The offering that day will go to ILYA to fund our Supportive Grant project. For those who aren’t familiar with that, we provide grants to youth who need help with apartment security deposits, utility start-up deposits, employment related equipment needs, funding for school fees and we also make loans if it’s just a matter of timing that money is needed. First U has always been very generous in supporting ILYA and we hope you will consider being so again.
If you can’t attend the service that day and would like to offer support to keep this program strong, you can mail a check to the church with “ILYA” on the memo line or use your credit card or debit card using the new “GivePlus+” app on your phone. Ways to give are included here. We are so grateful for your help in providing support for these very deserving young people. We hope you can join us to meet some of them on February 10th.
