During our fundraising campaign, the office crew noticed that was occasional confusion between “pledging” and “payment of pledges.” To help you help us process your donations and pledges, here are a few key points to remember:
A pledge tells us what you expect to donate to support operations (or the mini-capital campaign) – you can fill it out on paper, online, or even over the phone by calling the church office. Volunteers and staff record your intentions and, when you get your giving statement later in the year, you see what you planned to give (pledge) as well as donations made (payments).
Filling out the online payment form or using GivePlus on your phone does not generate a pledge. The electronic payment systems are just a way for you to make donations or payments.
When we are tracking donors to see if they made a pledge, we are looking at pledge forms, not online payment plans. We can’t assume that your pledge is equal to your automated giving set up. Some people combine giving methods, like stock transfers, checks and electronic giving.
Instructions are included on the online forms linked above.
Thank you for your support of First Unitarian. Big things are coming to First U and together we are Creating Possibilities!
