Help Stop the Quarantined Non-native Lanternfly

Eleven zip codes in northern Delaware are quarantined to stop the eggs of the spotted lanternfly from hatching while they still are in low number. This non-native Asian bug was spotted in PA in 2014. It sucks sap from leaves, stems, and trunks of plants. The quarantine asks residents to inspect landscaping, construction materials, firewood, grills, lawnmowers, and trees and other outdoor things for the egg sacs. If you find them scrape them into a plastic bag containing alcohol. There are many pictures, information and videos on the internet to teach you about this insect that could devastate agriculture crops. Search “Pictures of how to stop the lanternfly” and you will find a lot of information. Also we have a poster in the parish hall on Sundays. Thank you!
