You’re Helping Us Reach Our Goal

Church members and friends have helped ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) meet two-thirds of our goal to provide backpack gifts and a pizza party for young people graduating from high school and aging out of foster care. The backpacks may be the only gifts these young people receive. The pizza party is probably the only celebration they’ll have of succeeding with their studies despite tremendous instability and emotional trauma before and while in foster care.
Many are going on to college and all must leave their foster home and go out on their own… at 18 yrs. of age! That’s why we stuff the backpacks with items they can use in a dorm or a new apartment. They get a bath towel and face cloth, a pop-up clothes hamper, a dental care kit, and other personal care items and a $25 gift card.
Please help us meet our goal! Every donation no matter how small gets us closer to the $3,000 we need to make this project a success. Lois Morris and other ILYA team members will be in the parish hall during coffee hour on May 26 to receive your donations. You can also send a check to the church with “ILYA” on the memo line or use the Give Plus+ app on your mobile phone (select ILYA as the recipient). Thank you for your ongoing support!
