ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) is wrapping up the preparation of 25 backpacks filled with items youth aging out of foster care can take with them to a dorm or first apartment. Why? These are gifts that you provide to celebrate their graduating from high school. And celebrate we will!
Next month we will have a pizza party where each one will be recognized for the amazing achievement they have made. And it is amazing! Enduring incredible instability and lacking support that most of us take for granted, they have kept focused on their course work to receive their diploma.
Our budget is bigger this year because we have more graduates than any previous year. There are 25 high school grads plus we now have 2 college grads and 2 vocational school grads (to whom we give gift cards and a diploma frame).
These young people are our future… focused, determined, resourceful and SUCCESSFUL! Please help us celebrate them with a donation. You can see Amy Barch at the table in the parish hall during coffee hour this Sunday (our last week) or send a check to the church with “ILYA” on the memo line. Or use the GivePlus+ app on your mobile phone selecting the “ILYA” option. Thank you for your ongoing support!
