The First U Human Rights Task Force is pleased to continue our work with racial justice by showing generosity to 2 of our partners: YWCA Racial Dialogues Series and Network Delaware Safe Communities Campaign. On Ingathering Sunday, September 8, we will split the offering plate with these two groups. We have supported and worked with both of these groups last year and will continue to do so this year.
YWCA is hosting another series of small groups to discuss race and race relations similar to the ones they organized last spring. If you did not participate last time, you have another chance now! These discussions culminate in an Action Forum that plans local initiatives for change. The YWCA is adding some discussions of White Privilege this year.
Network Delaware Safe Communities is advocating for Delaware to be a Safe State for immigrants. After some success with New Castle County and local school districts, they continue to put pressure on the City of Wilmington and the Governor’s Office. We want our local and state policies to support and protect Delaware’s immigrants rather than forcing our neighbors to live in fear.
Please plan to give generously on Ingathering Sunday! Thank You.
