Our fall display in our Art Gallery, outside the Brunner Chapel and Music Room, is ready! Just as we are anticipating the new church year with Rev. Wat and finding our niche at First U, we are displaying member paintings and other creations based on our September and October Soul Matters Themes: What Does It Mean to be a People of…
September: Expectation
October: Belonging
We welcome additional art ready for hanging; please bring your contributions to the church office anytime in September and let us know they’re there. Be sure to include your name and a short description of how your piece reflects the theme of Expectation or Belonging. Our display will be up through the end of October.
We welcome artists of all ages and media to engage with us in this creative way of exploring our monthly Soul Matters themes. Submit your paintings, photography, woven pieces and other creative works as many months as inspire you throughout the year. Works might be something you’ve already completed or might be something new, inspired by the theme. If writing is more your creative outlet and you would like to submit a short piece or poetry suitable for framing based on the monthly theme, those are also welcome. Your submissions should be ready for hanging (notify us if you need assistance). If you have questions, send them to art@firstuuwilm.org or speak with David Weiss or Nancy Pinson on Sundays. If you’re thinking ahead, here are the themes for November through June:
“What does it mean to be a people of …?”
November: Attention
December: Awe
January: Integrity
February: Resilience
March: Wisdom
April: Liberation
May: Thresholds
June: Play
