What a Wonderful Problem to Have!

The First U community is so caring and generous that ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) developed a problem. We received more offers from volunteers to send Student Care Packages to youth who aged out of foster care and are continuing their education than we have students. How can we ever thank you enough for that response?!
We do often have students that are admitted to programs later in the Fall and again in the Spring. So we are keeping the names of volunteers not yet matched up with students for those who come a bit later. The Independent Living Coordinators (ILCs) who are hired by the state to support the youth will continue to watch for students still going into programs. Please know that your offer to support a youth is so valued and appreciated by the whole ILYA team as well as the ILCs and the youth. We couldn’t have this program without the caring and generous people you are.
Cathy Butler is sending out information to volunteers who are matched with a student (based on preferences of the volunteer and the student). Those not matched yet will receive communication of that situation also with our request for understanding and patience.
Thank you all again from the bottom of our hearts! The ILYA team is so grateful for all the support.
