Each month, the Environmental Justice Task Force challenges you to make changes in your daily life that benefit the environment. Our January “ask” is probably the most important one all year. What we eat has a profound impact on the planet. Animal Agriculture is responsible for up to 30 percent of greenhouse gas emissions globally, and much of the emissions come from red meat production. Beef production also requires 20 times more land and emits 20 times more greenhouse gas emissions per unit of edible protein than common plant-based protein sources such as beans, peas and lentils. For January, we ask you to consider how your diet is playing a role in global warming and what changes can you make for our Mother Earth. New help? Here‘s an article on becoming a “flexitarian” and incorporating more meatless meals into your diet. Or watch this short video to get inspired to make some changes.
