The Board of Trustees, in collaboration with staff and other lay leaders, has made a decision to relocate the library to a reorganized space in the music room and to lease the library space to the Educational Enrichment Center (EEC), our long term daycare tenant, to allow expansion for infant care. The Board understands that this may seem like a sudden decision and that some of our members may be saddened by the change. Two years ago the board approved the option to allow EEC to expand into the library space if they desired to do so. Due to extenuating circumstances within the EEC, the option was only recently exercised, and we were not able to fully disclose information previously due to confidentiality concerns. The good news is that with their expansion, First U will benefit both from increased revenues and a financially solid lease partner.
The Board recognizes this as a learning opportunity to learn how we may be able to better communicate moving forward. Current library volunteers are actively engaged in the design and transition (planned for summer 2020) into its new space.
