Music Staffing Update
Since the departure of Scott from First Unitarian, we have been fortunate to have a wonderful stream of guest musicians sharing their talent and skill with us each week. During this interim period, Rev. Pam has been scheduling musicians from the community and from the congregation to participate in worship services. In April the Executive Team plans to establish a search team to find our next Director of Music whom we hope would start by September. Search Team members will be active First Unitarian members with a background in music.
In the meantime, a Staffing Assessment Team has been established to edit the current job description of the Director of Music (removing responsibilities such as pastoral care, wedding/memorial service officiant duties, etc.) and to evaluate the staffing needs of the church. The Staffing Assessment Team is made up of Rev. Pam, Marina VanRenssen, Cindy Cohen, and Dale Stratton, who are all people with knowledge and experience in different areas of church life and who can evaluate our staffing needs in the areas of music, CYRE, administration, membership/engagement, adult RE, pastoral care, etc. They will make a recommendation regarding how we use the staff funds currently assigned to the music director position.
