First UU supports Lutheran Community Services programs helping Wilmington’s needy residents.
Currently, LCS is supplying supplemental food to the Wilmington Community along with the Delaware Food Bank as business closures and other COVID-19 situations create a basic food need in households that have lost income sources.
As our church building was temporarily closing, Catherine Cambridge, who manages our food pantry, requested that we donate our excess food supplies to LCS. Catherine gathered the food supplies and delivered them where they were gratefully received. A woman who had come to LCS for help noticed a bag of dried beans and commented that she would now be able to make soup for her family.
