ILYA Graduation Project – COVID 19 Impact

Times are certainly strange with the changed procedures and restrictions resulting from the COVID 19 virus. We hope everyone is safe and healthy and appreciate all the essential workers who are keeping things going for us all including our AV team, office staff and Reverend Pam. But some things haven’t changed and that’s ILYA’s determination to celebrate the graduation of 28 high school students next month.
Of course, we can’t do this as we would l like to with our traditional pizza party. Project leader Jess Farris and her team have been putting a plan together to celebrate virtually with some distancing deliveries of goodies in addition to the backpacks we always provide the graduates. We’re hoping to use Zoom events to bring students together in ways that build ongoing support networks (more on that to come) to allow more than just celebrating happening.
We’re asking for your support once again. Since we won’t be able to have a table set up in the parish hall this year, we’re asking you to send checks to the church with “ILYA Graduation Project” on the memo line. Our costs won’t be any less and may even be greater as we figure out how to “bring the party” to the graduates.
These young people who were already experiencing hardship being in foster care have now had to overcome the disruption of COVID 19 but still are managing to graduate high school. They deserve to be celebrated. Please help us do that by making a generous donation. The entire ILYA team thanks you!
