Small Group Ministry is a form of shared ministry that encourages spiritual growth and the development of deep and substantive relationships. Small Group Ministry meets our needs for belonging (intimacy) and meaning (ultimacy). It builds friendships and provides opportunities to talk with others about the big questions of life. Small groups are designed to enrich our community with the sort of conversation and attentiveness that can be difficult in the busy life of a growing congregation. A small group experience nurtures each person’s spiritual growth, empowering them to live their lives with intention and authenticity. At First U, we have two types of small groups that meet regularly throughout the church year: Soul Matters and Connection Circles.
Groups will be meeting over Zoom during the COVID Pandemic until the church building is reopened. If you participated in a group in a previous year and wish to continue, please register again this year. You may choose to change it up and select a different group this year.
(Note registration remains open on our website throughout the year.)
To sign up for FY2020-2021, please fill out this form: 2020-2021 Small Group Ministry Sign-up
By signing up for a Soul Matters Group, you’ll be joining with over 190 UU congregations that are part of the Soul Matters Circles, exploring the same small group worship themes. This year, the Soul Matters themes are:
What Does It Mean to be a People of…
September: Renewal
October: Deep Listening
November: Healing
December: Stillness
January: Imagination
February: Beloved Community
March: Commitment
April: Becoming
May: Story
June: Play
If you have any questions, please contact the church office, or a Soul Matters facilitator. We welcome your comments and most importantly, your participation.
