The Music Director Search Team is pleased to announce that Katherine Harris has accepted the position of Music Director of First Unitarian Church, effective October 1st, 2020.

A native Wilmingtonian, Katherine is a professional musician and vocal teacher. She attended Westminster Choir College before transferring to Oberlin College Conservatory of Music, receiving her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance, followed by her Master of Music degree in Opera Performance. She did post-graduate vocal studies at the Yale University School of Music. She began her career as a concert and opera singer in the New York metropolitan area, then moved into arts administration and church music. Since returning to the Wilmington area last year, she has been the Organist/Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church in Newark, DE, and recently served as a sabbatical replacement on the voice faculty at the University of Delaware.

Katherine has already had a successful “Meet and Greet” with the choir, and will begin accompanying Sunday services mid-October. You can look forward to hearing from her as she settles into the position.
