Pastoral Care Announcement: Karel Toll

With sadness, we announce that Karel Toll died on September 27. Karel was the Unitarian Universalist that we all aspire to be. His incredible dedication to First Unitarian was only the tip of the iceberg. Karel served on the UUA Board of Trustees but also worked diligently to grow Unitarian Universalism in our wider district. He and others from our congregation, including Dave Sheppard, who just died in July, mentored new congregations. When we had our building campaign in the early 1990’s, Karel insisted that 1% of the funds raised would go to helping establish new congregations. Karel was someone who embodied our faith every day.

Karel is predeceased by his wife of 69 and a half years, Doris. He is survived by four children Amy, Christine, Peter, and Michael. In addition, he is survived his sister, Jean Toll, who is a member of our church. In addition, Karel is survived by 7 grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial service information will be forthcoming.
