It’s Holiday Giving Time

In almost every store holiday decorations have appeared. Radio stations are already playing holiday music. And at First U, ILYA (Independent Living for Young Adults) has kicked off our Holiday Giving project. For those not familiar with this, it’s our way of bringing some holiday cheer to youth who have aged out of foster care. This year it has to work differently than in the past and with your help, here’s how we can pull it off:
We’ve received referrals of 39 youth through their state hired independent living coordinators. Instead of posting short bios and asking volunteers to shop we’re asking for donations by November 30.
With those donations, our project leader, Carolyn Gibson, will purchase gift cards and a gift for each youth.
So, do you think you could help bring some cheer to a young person who may otherwise have a bleak holiday? If you can, please send a check to the church with “ILYA” on the memo line or donate with your credit card on the First U website at https://firstuuwilm.org/donate-now/ or use the GivePlus+ app on your mobile device. Select “ILYA” to make sure your donation comes to our account for Holiday Giving. We need lots of support to help these youth have a happier holiday. We know First U always reaches deep to help.
THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts!
