In 2020, the First U Library moved from its original downstairs location to the second floor Music room, a decision of the First U Board to provide additional first floor rental income from our preschool tenant, Educational Enrichment Center (EEC).
Working with pandemic precautions during the spring and summer, many volunteers and staff helped to pack and move the library upstairs. The Library occupies the window (south) end of the now shared-use Library and Music Room. Bookshelves are in place, and the space feels bright and spacious. The Library team has been arranging books and reference materials, organizing its workspace in the large library-music closet, and cataloging new titles.
After the church building reopens, an open house will introduce the congregation to the reconfigured new Library and Music space. The room will accommodate the library, meetings, and music functions by rotating the arrangement of tables and chairs as needed. The Library and Archive team is considering ways to assist and encourage members and friends to visit the new upstairs library and use its resources when church is again open.
